What I like about my work

I like the fast pace, challenge and diversity of my work, and I enjoy solving my clients’ problems.

What I’ve done in the past

I’ve now done three stints at Anderson Lloyd! I joined as a summer clerk, then became a law clerk and a solicitor before moving to London for 12 months. I spent a lot of time travelling around Europe but also worked for a law firm based in Westminster.

I returned to Anderson Lloyd, and then moved to Chapman Tripp in Christchurch where I worked for two years. I again returned to Anderson Lloyd at the start of 2006. It’s a friendly, progressive firm that’s really going places.

My approach to working with my clients

I talk to my clients and find out what they are looking to achieve. I think it’s important to develop a strategy upfront that is going to work.

I really focus on being proactive and ensuring that I communicate clearly and frequently with my clients. I help them to achieve their goals by identifying any obstacles early and then working with my clients to remove these.

What I enjoy at work

The environment is excellent. We have great work and our people are both highly professional and fun to work with. They’re also very good at what they do.

What I enjoy outside of work

Golf, tennis, and soccer. I also enjoy spending time getting out and about with my wife and young sons, supporting the Highlanders, and following the English Premier League.

What I enjoy about living in the South Island

South Islanders are generally friendly and genuine. There’s a great natural appeal about the place and so many outdoor activities right on your doorstep.
