What I like about my work
I like helping people in what is often the most difficult time in their lives. Every case that I deal with involves different issues of family law.
What I have done in the past
I was a partner in an Invercargill-based law firm from 1977–1990. I started out in general practice (family law formed a part of this), before moving into the litigation area and specialising in family law.
In 1987 I moved to Central Otago to open the Queenstown practice for the Invercargill based firm. I subsequently joined Anderson Lloyd as a partner in 1990.
My approach to working with my clients
The issues I deal with are very personal to the clients. I have to assess what each client wants and needs and then assist with solutions to enable them to move on following relationship breakdowns. I help them to get through difficult times.
What I enjoy at work
I have been with Anderson Lloyd through a huge period of growth. I have enjoyed this immensely and see this growth continuing in the future.
What I enjoy outside of work
I play a lot of golf and have been actively involved in golf administration for the past 10 years. I also like tramping, and I read and travel extensively.
What I enjoy about living in the South Island
I have never lived anywhere else. For me, Queenstown is the best town to live in because it has natural beauty and great opportunities to enjoy sport and recreation.
