What I like about my work

I like the challenge of finding a pathway through complex issues and having a national perspective on resource management.

What I’ve done in the past

I've been working in resource management and environmental law for nearly 10 years now.

I starting with an Auckland law firm which specialised in Treaty of Waitangi issues (including resource management).  I then went overseas for a few years and spent two of them working for the Head Office legal team of the Environment Agency based in Bristol in the UK.  On returning to NZ, I worked for a large national law firm based in Auckland before moving down to Nelson.

I have been based in Nelson ever since, first working as the Nelson/Marlborough Conservancy Solicitor for the Department of Conservation and then joining Anderson Lloyd at the end of 2006.

My approach to working with my clients

I like to gain a full understanding of my clients' interests so that I can help them to achieve an outcome that will work for them.  I also see my role as helping my clients to understand the legal framework that we are working within.

What I enjoy at work

I enjoy working with good people.

What I enjoy outside of work

My husband and I are keen sailors and recently completed a circumnavigation of the South Island (although not all in one go!).  I also enjoy more leisurely pursuits such as reading, cooking and relaxing with family and friends.

What I enjoy about living in the South Island

Having lived most of my earlier life in the north island, I appreciate the sense of space and "bigness" of the South Island.  I am still awestruck by the mountains, rivers and wild coastlines and the people aren't bad either.
