What I like about my work

I like the intellectual challenge and I enjoy the logical analysis and assessment of matters and having to make a call one way or another. My work is lively, interesting and dynamic, and I really enjoy that.

What I’ve done in the past

My career started with Duncan Cotterill in Christchurch, where I worked for 2 years. I then worked as a barrister in Dunedin before moving to Caudwells in 1987. I became a partner the following year.

My approach to working with my clients

I want to achieve the best possible result for my clients. At the outset, I like to find out what my client’s objective is, and then give the issue considered analysis, in order to offer practical solutions so that my client can achieve the desired result.

What I enjoy at work

The beauty of working at Anderson Lloyd is its size, resources and collegiality. We have the capability to specialise in areas that interest us and work exclusively in these areas. Our specialisation means that we have built up an excellent client base and have a huge variety of work as a result. Our size also means that we have great resources in terms of business support, which all enables us to deliver a top quality service.

What I enjoy outside of work

I like to spend time with my wife and three daughters, and we have a house in Central Otago to which we like to escape. I am a keen cyclist, kayaker and runner, and try to combine these disciplines in triathlons. I like gardening, reading, travel, and the French language. I also indulge my passion for history and I have continued to follow my interests in the subject since studying it for my BA at university.

What I enjoy about living in the South Island

I was born and educated in Dunedin. I love the culture, the history, the great schools and the fact that everything is only a short drive away!
