What I like about my work

I like the wide range of projects and subjects that I get to work on. The diversity is challenging and I have to interact with many interesting specialists during the course of my work, ranging from engineers and landscape architects through to archaeologists and scientists. I enjoy helping clients achieve their visions. My work also means that I get out of the office to travel around the South Island and occasionally the North Island too, which I enjoy.

What I’ve done in the past

I started my legal career working for the Crown Solicitors firm in Wanganui, where I spent three and a half years. I joined Anderson Lloyd in 2002.

My approach to working with my clients

I like to form good relationships with my clients, which I believe allows for better communication and, ultimately, a greater understanding of their business or personal needs. I work hard to give them good advice and achieve the results that they want.

What I enjoy at work

The people that I work with are great. The team I work in is excellent and well rounded in terms of the skills available. There is a really good energy level and attitude prevalent in the team.

What I enjoy outside of work

I have always participated in outdoor pursuits such as kayaking, skiing, biking and surfing. These interests have also led to a few job opportunities. I was a sea kayaking guide in the Abel Tasman National Park during five summer breaks whilst at university, and, after graduating, I spent a year in the USA working as a white water kayaking instructor.

What I enjoy about living in the South Island

I love that it is so easy to participate in the outdoor pursuits that dominate my time off. The South Island is where I grew up. It is my home and where I belong. The easy access to exciting and beautiful locations and the fact that it is comparatively uncrowded are great attributes.
