What I like about my work
I enjoy the various challenges that arise during the course of my work. I get a real kick out of getting good results for my clients.
What I’ve done in the past
I started out in Timaru. In 1994, I headed off on my OE. I spent three years overseas working for the Investors Compensation Scheme and a local authority.
I returned to New Zealand in 1997 and worked for the law firm Cooney Lees Morgan in Tauranga, before spending three years at the Bar. In 2004, I had a sea change and became a legal recruitment consultant, but decided that wasn’t for me and joined Anderson Lloyd as a partner later the same year. I wanted to return to the South Island and Anderson Lloyd was the obvious choice. The firm has a fantastic reputation.
My approach to working with my clients
I am a pragmatic, problem-solver. My approach is to deliver constructive and sensible advice to my clients. I look at how to get the best result most cost-effectively and efficiently. Ultimately, I provide my clients with clear strategic advice about how to achieve their desired outcome.
What I enjoy at work
The quality of work is fantastic. We have some great clients and the partners and staff have a good attitude. Everyone is focused on getting our clients the right outcome.
What I enjoy outside of work
I enjoy mountain-biking, golf, swimming and any other water-sport. I am a member of Taylors Mistake Surf Club. Taylors Mistake is a fantastic beach near Sumner.
What I enjoy about living in the South Island
The simplicity. It’s an easy place to live and there are plenty of things to do. Everything is so close by – I can be on my mountain bike in the bush in 10 minutes or on the golf course in 15 minutes.
