What I like about my work

I like the intellectual challenge of my work and the fact that no two days are the same. I enjoy supporting my clients by offering solutions to help them achieve positive results for their business endeavours.

What I've done in the past

I worked in the commercial litigation team at Rudd Watts and Stone in Auckland after University before heading to England on my OE.  While away, I worked for the government regulatory body for the financial advisor profession.  I loved experiencing the culture and travelling, spending a lot of time in Asia and Europe.  I returned to another Dunedin law firm before taking a second OE working for a year as an employment lawyer for a firm in Ireland.  When I returned to Dunedin in 2002 I joined Anderson Lloyd in the Commercial department.

I became a partner in April 2006.

My approach to working with my clients

I like to think I'm approachable. I enjoy building lasting relationships with my clients. I work to achieve the best possible outcome in the given factual scenario. I always try to focus on the client's end goal and seek to attain this with the minimum of fuss.

What I enjoy at work

We have a huge number of great people working at Anderson Lloyd and I enjoy the relationships I have with others in the firm. Being able to offer our clients specialist advice in many fields is one of our greatest strengths. As a result, we have some wonderful clients with whom we've built strong relationships and undertaken very interesting work. As a firm we have developed enormously and are open to the challenges and changes in the legal market.

What I enjoy outside of work

I'm married with a young daughter and two step-daughters.  My husband is a keen fly-fisherman and while I haven't been persuaded yet to take it up,  we tend to go off to various great locations in the South Island and take in the outdoors.  I also enjoy, reading, gardening, walking and swimming.

What I enjoy about living in the South Island

I'm lucky because I get the best of both worlds. Living in Dunedin means that I can work with my clients on the types of exciting and challenging deals you'd expect in any of the larger centres in the country, and have a good quality lifestyle. There are so many great walks and beaches nearby – the great outdoors is very accessible. It's a fantastic place to be.
