What I like about my work
I really enjoy the contentious issues that arise during the course of my work and seeking to overcoming these. I like the balancing act of managing the effects of a development on the environment and coming up with a creative solution that will get the green light. This is especially important in Queenstown, which is growing rapidly. Developments are necessary but also need to fit in with the beautiful natural environment.
What I’ve done in the past
I started work at Preston Russell before leaving for my OE in 1999. In the UK I worked for the Environment Agency for England and Wales and later joined the Environment and Planning team at Norton Rose in London.
I returned to New Zealand and worked at Lane Neave in Christchurch. I joined Anderson Lloyd's Queenstown office in August 2004.
My approach to working with my clients
I focus on understanding what my clients are looking to achieve and then work to get them the results they want in a timely manner. It’s important to me that my clients feel they can ring me at any time to ask questions or discuss their issues.
What I enjoy at work
There is a really good group of people in the Queenstown office who work well as a team. We have good work/life balance and make the most of living in such a beautiful part of the country.
What I enjoy outside of work
Anything outdoors especially skiing, mountain biking, and multisport racing. I have completed the Coast to Coast and various races around Queenstown. I also enjoy travel and catching up with friends and family.
What I enjoy about living in the South Island
I love having all my favourite activities right on my doorstep. It’s great being able to walk out of the office door and get straight into it.
