What I like about my work

I like the people I work with, the large client base that the firm offers, the geographical spread of our offices, our size and therefore the range of law available. For more than 30 years, I have never tired of the challenge.

What I’ve done in the past

I have worked for Anderson Lloyd (or one of its predecessors) since 1975 when I left Otago University. I became a partner in 1978 where I have remained, moving from a mixed practice to focus more closely on commercial law.

My approach to working with my clients

My aim is to be fully involved with my clients and I have an open-door policy. An integral part is understanding their business and industry sector. In doing so, I am able to better appreciate my clients legal needs and provide good solutions.

 What I enjoy at work

I like the people that I work with, the range of law that I am involved in, the client base that the firm has, the geographical spread of our offices, and our size.

What I enjoy outside of work

I enjoy spending time with my wife and family both in Central Otago and overseas whenever possible. I am passionate about gardening and a rural lifestyle. Other pursuits include water and snow skiing, fishing, tennis, golf and cultural events.

 What I enjoy about living in the South Island

I was born and bred in Dunedin. I love the sea and sea-views which are so accessible in Dunedin and the larger coastal environment of the south. Dunedin is the back door to Central Otago with its dramatic mountains and lakes. With Christchurch, Nelson and the West Coast a stone’s throw away, we are a very diverse Island about which I am very proud.
